Canon EOS rebel T7i Review - Canon 800D

Canon EOS rebel T7i Review - Canon 800D

Canon EOS Rebel T7i comes with a number of improvements over its predecessor. The sensor and new DIGIC 7 image processor are very impressive, also dual autofocus is more appealing. If you are looking for a camera to learn photography or you might be thinking to update your Smartphone or your compact camera, the Canon EOS Rebel T7i / Canon EOS 800d is one of the best options.

T7i is worth buying rather than going to the Hi-end cameras, which are really complicated to beginners. Thanks to This camera’s guide mode, which will help you to learn the camera’s settings and how each setting affect your images. T7is autofocus and image quality make the T7i one of the best cameras to appear for its intended audience.

THE SENSOR

The new sensor is very impressive and comes with a new DIGIC 7 image processor, which can offer 14 times more information than the Canon EOS Rebel T6i / EOS 750D , which has been used a 6 DIGIC processor. This camera has been built a 24MP APS-C sensor with dual pixel system, which helps to deliver good autofocus and videos.

The Canon EOS T7i is one of the best cameras which is easy to use and easy to learn photography if you are new to DSLRs. Because of the Guide mode of EOS T7i’s helps you to operate the camera and gives you advices how to affect each setting for your images. However, if you don’t want this guide mode you can turn it off. So, T7i is good for family photographers and someone who looking for a camera getting into photography.

BUILD QUALITY

The Canon EOS T7i/800D is almost same to the Canon T6i when it comes to build quality except very little changes. T7i has built by using aluminum alloy and polycarbonate. Canon T7i weight is 532g with a battery, which has lightened T7i’s weight from 20g over Canon T6i; T7i is a really compact camera when it compares with other DSLRs and also Canon T7i weight and size are more competitive when it compare with most mirrorless rivals.

This camera has an extra microphone port to dedicate 3.5mm Stereo microphone jack, however, there is a slight disappointment not to see an extra headphone jack. Overall, except these minor concerns, the Canon EOS T7i is worth a look.

Canon T7i has a flash, which can risk bleaching your images sometimes as this flash is a bit keen. But I want to tell you don’t of the flash because if you off the flash, the camera uses a longer shutter speed in order to increase lights. So, it may risk blurring your images. Keep the flash on and use exposure compensation to avoid this.

SD card

This camera has one SD card slot and it supports UHS- I card. So you can use UHS- I/U3 SD card (like SanDisk Extreme Pro UHS-I/U3 cards) in order to take advantage of this camera. Especially, if you tend to use this camera for RAW files continuous shoot.

Wi-Fi and NFC

The T7i has been built in Wi-Fi and NFC connectivity, which can be used a low energy Bluetooth connection to continue the connection

between your Smartphone and camera. And this feature allows you to operate the camera remotely and share your images to compatible smart devices. Canon has updated T7i’s connect app to be more user-friendly. But, you might find there is a little complex when it connects with your Smartphone.

Q- Menu

The Q-menu of EOS T7i is very useful. This feature allows you to change some setting without diving into the settings of the camera. All you have to do just press on the Q-menu button and change the setting you want as you wish.

Battery

Canon T7i Battery life has been improved a lot, which can take 600 Shots, its means 160 extra shots than the T6i which can take 440 shots. However, the Nikon D5600 which can take extra 220 shots (820 in total). Overall Canon T7i battery life is a really good improvement especially when it compares with other mirrorless rivals.

There is a slight disappointment not see camera RAW conversion option. This feature helps to represses RAW files.

Overall, except these minor concerns, T7is images quality are really impressive and it’s really competitive with its rivals, which make the T7i one of the really good cameras on the market today.

The t7i autofocus system is really impressive and it performs fast whether you shoot through the viewfinder or in live view mode.

THE DISPLAY

T7i has a brilliant and bright LCD touch screen and comes with 1,040,000 dots, which is a 3.0 inches display. And also it is a fully articulated display, which means you can flip the display up and down and sides.

So, if you are a youtuber or a blogger this is a very good feature because you can just turn around the display toward you when you shoot videos (no 4k video only 1080p). Then you can see what is going on.

Another benefit of this very-angle touch screen is that you can take photos up high and down low by just flipping the display without struggling rather than looking through the viewfinder.

Video Quality

Let’s take a look at canon t7i video quality. It is really disappointment to see only 1080p videos, no 4k videos. When it compare with other competitors, especially some mirrorless rivals they offer this feature. Although, when it comes to price Canon T7i is a little cheaper camera over most mirrorless rivals. However, Canon has managed to improve its video frame up to 60fps over its predecessor, which was 30fps.

ISO range of EOS T7i’s is 100-25, 600 up from Canon T6i. And also there is Hi Setting available that can be expanded up to 51,200. If you want this Hi setting you can select it in the custom setting.

Image Quality

Canon T7i image quality, colors and white balance are impressive and images noise performance has improved. Overall image quality is very good. But there is little thing to keep in mind is that photography under artificial light might be a little orange but you can avoid this by using P-mode.

This camera has two illuminations. Canon T7i delivers excellent images with accurate colors. Noise performance and underline raw performance are also really good.

Auto Focus

Let’s take a look at Canon T7i autofocus. T7i’s autofocus in live view is a really good improvement over Canon T6i. Canon has improved T7i’s autofocus system up to 45-point versus 19-points phase-detect of T6i’s. These 45 AF points are sensitive both horizontally and vertically.

Canon T7i dual pixel AF is highly capable whether you shoot through the viewfinder or in live mode, which performs very well. Tracking subjects around the frame and phase-detecting are also very impressive. The only thing you have to do tap on the screen to track your subject and it will stay with your subject. You can also use this tracking mode with videos.

Competitors

When canon T7i compare with other rivals there are couples of rivals that are being used out on the market: The Nikon D5600 is another camera that has focused for these two audiences, which has been built a 24MP APS-C sensor. Rated battery life of D5600 is 820 shot per charge. This camera has a fully articulated display and it’s a touch-capable display. Nikon D5600 can be bought for $ 596 at Amazon marketplace (body only).

And also Sony has introduced the A6000 for these two audiences, which use 24MP APS- C sensor. No touch capability and it’s a tilt display. Offer the same 1080/60p video capability, like Canon T7i. You can buy this camera with a bundle for $ 848 at Amazon marketplace.

Meanwhile, Fujifilm has introduced the X – T20, which also use a 24MP APS-C sensor. This camera is 4k video capable, which is a really good camera for filmmakers.
